Ellen DeGeneres Quits American Idol

After days of speculations, Fox officials have finally confirmed that Ellen DeGeneres will no longer be a judge on American Idol. The much criticized Idol judge has lasted for only one season in America’s most popular singing contest which will be undergoing a complete overhaul for its upcoming season.
In a recent announcement that DeGeneres released to the press, the witty talk show host revealed that she felt that the show was not a good fit for her, partly due to her increased workload and added commitments which includes her top-rating talk show “Ellen”. She also added that despite her desire to support aspiring artists with great talent, it was hard for her to make comments about the contestants and in the process hurt their feelings. She expressed her intention to quit the show two months prior to her official press announcement.
DeGeneres was brought into the show to replace Paula Abdul. She along with Kara DioGuardi completed the Idol’s panel of judges for the ninth season. While many enjoyed her witty and humorous comments, there were those that were not particularly pleased seeing her as a judge on the show primarily due to her lack of background in the music industry.
Aside from DeGeneres, Simon Cowell has also quit the show as he has a new reality contest called “The X Factor”. With Paula and Simon gone, only Randy Jackson remains among the show’s original panel of judges.
