Portia de Rossi files papers to become Portia DeGeneres

Celebrity news agencies are reporting that Portia de Rossi of ‘Arrested Development’ fame has recently filed papers to change her name to Portia DeGeneres; but in case you didn’t know…this isn’t some kind of hilarious prank Portia is playing; she has been married to Ellen DeGeneres since 2008.
It is not known whether Portia’s move was a way to make Ellen feel better after losing her ‘American Idol’ gig; here’s what Ellen has to say about that business: “A couple months ago, I let FOX and the American Idol producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me. I realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on Idol and I am very grateful for the year I had, I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”
In the meantime, the soon to be Portia Degeneres is expected to appear in the movie version of ‘Arrested Development’; it has also been rumoured that she could replace Steve Carell on ‘The Office’. Will she headline these projects as de Rossi, or Degeneres?
