A spokesperson for Julien Hug’s family confirmed today that the former Reality TV contestant was found dead in Riverside County. Hug, who is the son of a successful San Diego restauranteur, was a contestant on the Reality TV series “The Bachelorette” in 2009, when the show’s title bachelorette was Jillian Harris.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the body of an adult male was found around 11:00 a.m. yesterday off of Highway 73 in Pinyon Pines. Although authorities themselves have not revealed the identity of the body, Hug’s family has confirmed that it was his. Beyond their independent revelation of the body’s identity, the family is not currently talking to reporters. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death; for the time being, no more details are available.

The spokesperson mentioned above, Audrey Doherty, explains that the family is devastated and does not wish to speak publicly about Julien’s death. ”They’re just heartbroken about it, but they’re hoping to mourn privately,” she said, adding: “It’s pretty devastating.” Doherty also said that his family had lost contact with him 2 days previous to the discovery of his body, when his cell phone died.

Jillian Harris, an interior designer from Peace River, Alberta, Canada, and the above mentioned bachelorette who’s hand Hug competed for in 2009, gave her condolences via Twitter. “Please say a prayer for the loss of a friend this morning,” Harris wrote in an unusually coherent and literate “tweet”. “Life is fragile, don’t forget to love the ones you love,” added Harris.

According to The Washington Post, while MTV had said that “we” would have to wait another 24 hours for the release of rapper Lil Wayne from prison (I think that Lil Wayne’s own waiting is a bit more important that “our” waiting), TMZ has reported that Lil Wayne was indeed released from prison this morning; if this is true, it will mean that “we” do not have to wait any longer, much like he does not have to wait any longer, for his release.

I wonder if Lil Wayne, who has been in prison since last March for a weapons charge, is concerned with how long “we” have been waiting for him to get out?

The confusion, not over who exactly is the one waiting to get out of prison, but over Lil Wayne’s exact release date, may have something to do with the fact that Wayne, who was sentenced to a year in March, is getting out about 4 months early. It was not reported that Wayne was getting out early for not possessing any weapons while in prison which constituted “good behavior”.

Furthermore, as to the reason for the confusion regarding Wayne’s release date, The Washington Post remarks that MTV’s source on the 24-hour delay was not someone who actually worked for Rikers, the prison at which Lil Wayne was jailed.

So I guess The Washington Post, by showing up MTV, can reassure itself that it is a “real” source of news, as opposed to MTV which only writes about pop stars. On the other hand, don’t forget that the Washington Post is also writing about Lil Wayne.

Last week, Garth Brooks, who (just in case you didn’t know) is the all-time number 1 selling country artist, informed the world that he would be headlining a benefit concert in December, the proceeds of which will go to victims of the spring flooding in Tennessee. This will be the first time that Brooks, who is now semi-retired, will be performing in Nashville in more than ten years.

“If you come to Las Vegas, you’ll see Garth and a guitar. But when you come to Nashville in December you will see the band you know, you will see the light rig that you know, you will see the stage you know, and, hopefully, you will see the best Garth Brooks show you’ve ever seen,” promoted brooks; in this case, less shamelessly on account of proceeds going to flood victims rather than promoters, organizers, or himself.

Reportedly, 100 percent of the proceeds from the $25 dollar tickets to see the show will be donated to flood relief. This is interesting: would a Garth Brooks concert, were it intended for the profit of Brooks and the organizers, have tickets selling for only $25? Of course not; tickets for a non-benefit Garth Brooks concert would almost certainly go for $100 or more, wouldn’t they? Why then, should a benefit concert cost less? Is personal gain more valuable than charity in some bizarre way?

In addition to being the highest selling country artist ever, Brooks is also the highest selling solo artist in all of America history, or rather, mass-produced American popular music history.

Instead, our capitalized “D” suggests the proper name of a space shuttle whose origins are completely accounted for and no doubt well documented as well. Boring!

Or is it? Space travel, even when not shrouded in mystery, is still pretty cool. What’s more, the space shuttle Discovery is reportedly carrying a humanoid robot as cargo. Will it befriend the other crew members (if any)? Will it lead a machine-revolt against humans? Will we learn all about it from a TV movie which did not really deserve to get funding?

For the time being, and barring unexpected and entertaining developments, the robot is being delivered to the International Space Station along with a storage module, and will become a part of the orbiting lab’s crew.

For the moment, NASA is concerned about the Discovery launch, scheduled for Thursday, because of an electrical glitch as well as some unfavorable weather predictions. NASAs shuttle integration manager, Mike Moses, who inexplicably failed to discuss the robot, what its name was, its height, personality, whether it felt shame, etc., had this very boring thing to say: “We fly with known risks, not unknown risks…Right now this risk is a little bit unknown.” Well, now there’s a risk of me falling to sleep as well!

The President said that he was humbled by the “shellacking” the Democrats took at the polls on Tuesday. So far, however, the President is not being petty about the outcome: he also said that he was ready and willing to sit down with the opposition to work things out. “I am very eager to sit down with members of both parties and figure out how we can move forward together,” the President said.

On the other hand, the President has also made it clear that there are certain issues that he will not budge on, such as health care, environmental energy, and and tax policies; all issues that Democrats and Republicans are quite sharply divided on.

The President also suggested at the conference that the Democrats’ loss may have had something to do with the public’s frustrations concerning the economy and employment; he also suggested that his duties as the President may have caused a separation between himself and the American people. “There is an inherent danger in being in the White House and being in the bubble,” the President said.

The President also expressed his interest in getting closer in touch with America’s business community; however doing this without scrapping the new regulations which the business community abhors, may be difficult. The President felt, however, that he could find “the right balance” between these new regulations and just generally being pro-business anyway.

The LA News Monitor has said that “Friends” of Charlie Sheen are expressing their concerns over Sheen’s hotel rampaging and partying activities. A mysterious source claimed to be “close” to Sheen, has been quoted as saying: “He is completely out of control. No one can get through to him.” Furthermore, another one of these incredibly intimate and secret sources has said that Sheen “is going to die this week.”

While the possibility does exist that these unnamed sources really are friends of Charlie Sheen, it is more than likely that these quotes are coming from celebrity pundits having nothing whatsoever to do with Charlie Sheen, or that they have been fabricated altogether. Always be suspicious when a news article quotes “someone close” to the situation concerned; entertainment news, likely the type most guilty of stirring up attention for itself based on little to nothing – although certainly not the only type of news guilty of this crime (present company included) – often uses this tactic; namely, of using unnamed sources which are allegedly “close” to the situation.

Charlie Sheen’s representative, meanwhile, has denied allegations that Sheen is in fact a rampaging, hotel-trashing, cocaine-beast; Stan Rosenfeld has affirmed that Sheen is actually a “normal” person, and evidenced his claim by revealing that Sheen was planning on handing out candy to children on Halloween.

While Sheen’s recent “negative” publicity might have been detrimental to his career in a better world, in this one it has been reported that Sheen’s employers at “Two and a Half Men” are thrilled with the publicity.

The recent joint Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert hosted Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear brought out an unexpectedly large crowd of 215,000 this weekend; the rally was originally expected to attract roughly 60.000 attendees. At the time, Jon Stewart jokingly said that there were more than 10 million people there; when informed of the actual estimated crowd numbers, he then joked that he would count them all himself to make sure.

Although the rally was partly just about comedy or entertainment, it did contain a fair amount of (non-partisan) criticism of the American media. For the closing of the event, Stewart addressed the sensationalistic character of mainstream news, and how it impedes our understanding of American’s problems. “The country’s 24-hour, political pundit perpetual panic conflictinator did not cause our problems, but its existence makes solving them that much harder,” said Stewart. He also compared the media’s method of investigation to holding a magnifying glass, not to bring serious issues into sharper focus and understanding, but to set ants on fire, and then host a number of programs about the dangers of flaming ants. “If we amplify everything, we hear nothing,” said Stewart.

If you expect this criticism, poignant as it may be, to carry any weight within the American media itself, you are probably going to be disappointed. New York Times media critic David Carr has already slagged Stewart for his views on the “perpetual panic conflictinator”, basically suggesting that there are more important things to worry about, such as unemployment, than “media bias and hyperbole “.

Although Randy Quaid and his wife are scheduled to appear in court today in California for an arraignment on felony vandalism charges, one might expect, based on Quaid’s statements, that the 60-year-old actor may not show for his court date. Why would Randy Quaid do such a thing, you ask? Well, apparently, Quaid believes that a group of hit-men or possibly hit-women known as the “Hollywood star whackers” are after he and his wife, and it is for this reason that they are seeking asylum in Canada.

It is not simply to get away with wrecking a guesthouse? Apparently no: in an interview on “Good Morning America” yesterday, the couple re-asserted their suspicion that Hollywood killers were after them; they have also suggested that these “star whackers” might have been involved with the deaths of both David Carradine and Heath Ledger. The couple also expressed, on yesterday’s TV appearance, that they hoped to remain in Canada.

The couple is up for charges of vandalism after allegedly causing serious damage to a guesthouse where they were staying. This is not the couple’s first legal run-in with the owner of a guesthouse, inn, or hotel type of establishment; the couple saw legal trouble earlier this year for allegedly defrauding an innkeeper.

So, to the untrained mind, it may seem that the Quaid family simply gets its kicks by not paying for their hotel rooms and also by breaking things; but, it would appear that, in truth, it is all part of an exciting plan to evade devious Hollywood “star whackers”.

On first glance at this article’s headline, unless you are really up on your “Blossom” history, you might imagine that the title character from “Blossom” (who you should remember was also a recurring character on MacGyver) is, not only still in existence, but has recently been married.

Unfortunately, with the exception of those historians mentioned above, you are wrong: Jenna von Oy is the actress who played Blossom’s friend Six. For those of you who, like myself, had a crush on Jenna when you were 10 but have since forgotten of her existence, according to Wikipedia von Oy has been involved in a number of other television productions since “Blossom”‘s demise; sadly, none of these having anything to do with MacGyver.

Another interesting tid-bit, aside from the eternal bond of matrimony, is that the former “Blossom” star has also had a career as a country singer; her album “Breathing Room” was released in 2007.

Van Oy, as most people do, claims to have enjoyed her wedding. “We knew it would be a wonderful day,” she said about her wedding day. “But it was a blast – more fun than we ever expected!”

Von Oy has also reportedly claimed that she and her now-husband, Brad Bratcher, are “happy” following their wedding.

To get back to whom you may have originally thought this article was about; namely, “Blossom”‘s title character: that’s Mayim Bialik, who, similarly not involved with MacGyver anymore, is now enjoying a guest-starring role on The Big Bang Theory. According to Wikipedia, she too was married in 2003.

Sony, in a blinding flash of information being used to promote its commercial interests (as opposed to information being used to inform people of something meaningful) has announced that it will drop the price of it’s current PSP model to $199; a price which, you may or may not be aware, unlike the price $200, begins with a 1 rather than a 2: by just a little bit.

The PSP Go, the above mentioned latest model, is much smaller than the original PSP or even the PSP 3000; rather than having the controls next to the screen as on earlier models, the Go’s screen slides up to reveal the control pad underneath. Also to make the system smaller, the Go does not contain the usual UMD drive for loading game cartridges; instead, games are stored by way of 16GB of internal flash memory.

According to reports, the new and very slightly diminished price tag is already in effect. Probably, Sony is trying to make the PSP more competitive with the similarly handheld Nintendo DSi, which currently goes for $149. As this second price tag is noticeably further away from $200 than the Go, the Go can perhaps boast better graphics to justify its sparkling proximity to $200.

While Sony claims to have sold roughly 61 million Gos since their birth in 2004; Nintendo has reportedly sold more than 140 million of its various models of the DS during the same period; Sony could perhaps counter that they’ve also sold millions of its other PSP models during this period, as the Go is being sold alongside of the PSP 3000, rather than as its replacement.
