Cowboys Win Opener

Posted on 09. Aug, 2010 by in Sports

In the Hall of Fame Game this past weekend, the Dallas Cowboys made quick work with the Cincinnati Bengals, toppling Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens’ squad 16-7.

The highlight of the night was not the game itself, but the induction of Cowboys’ great Emmitt Smith and the legendary Jerry Rice into the NFL’s Football Hall of Fame; however they likely did not enjoy the offense on display in the game.

Inductees into the Hall of Fame included several defensive players such as Dick LeBeau, John Randle and Rickey Jackson. They were probably satisfied with the eight sacks, three interceptions, and one recovered fumble on the field.

Discipline was a major problem during the game, as there were sixteen total penalties, 12 of which by the Bengals totalling 90 yards.

The most memorable moment for the Cowboys was seeing the city’s icon Emmitt Smith receive his induction: “Having Emmitt inducted into the Hall of Fame is special,” linebacker DeMarcus Ware said. “For us now playing for the Cowboys, it does make it extra special.”

The Cowboys will be hoping to be the first team to play in the Super Bowl in their home stadium.
