Must Win For Diaz

At the beginning of his career, many saw Juan Diaz as the future of boxing; winning his first 33 bouts and unifying three lightweight belts before he was even 25 years old. He was beginning to be the next big thing, making excellent money and rising on the pound-for-pound list; but things have changed.
At only 6 years old, many pundits are already calling him washed up, as he has an abysmal 2-3 record in his last 5 fights; and his next match against lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday night is seen as a must-win.
“This is going to be a great fight,” Marquez said. “It will definitely live up to the ‘fight of the year’ hype. I know Diaz is working hard and is going to do everything he can to avenge the knockout and regain the lightweight title. He has a lot to prove and I am going to do everything I can to defend my title.”
Diaz himself doesn’t seem too concerned with the match: “I see this as a win-win situation for me, because this fight is going to prove to me whether I have it or I don’t,” Diaz said.
