Due to the problems with the antenna of Apple’s new iPhone, Consumer Reports believes that the computer giant should provide a free repair service, according to reports
The product testing watchdog, after recently stating that they cannot recommend purchasing the new iPhone 4 due to its antenna problems, insisted today that Apple provide a no-fee fix for their recent glitch.
In a blog posted on Wednesday, Consumer Reports staff had the following to say: “Apple suggested owners mitigate the problem by holding the phone differently or purchasing a case. But those solutions put the onus on consumers and skirt Apple’s obligation to offer a product that works consistently and reliably out of the box.” Consumer Reports believe it is the responsibility of Apple to remedy the situation: “We think it’s the company’s responsibility to provide the fix.”
Earlier this week, Consumer Reports pointed out the inherent flaws of the latest iPhone’s antenna. They had tested four different phones, and all showed the infamous “grip of death”: “Our findings call into question the recent claim by Apple that the iPhone 4′s signal strength issues were largely an optical illusion caused by faulty software,” stated staff member Mike Gikas.
