Cameron in Talks With Indian PM

New UK Prime Minister David Cameron is in India to hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today, on the last day of his “jobs mission” trip, with the talks focusing on security and trade.

These talks are following Cameron’s warning to Pakistan, India’s neighbor, about “promoting the export of terror”.

But to this, Pakistan did not take well, as Pakistan’s High Commissioner accusing Cameron of “damaging the prospects of regional peace”.

Cameron on Wednesday told reporters that it was intolerable to allow Pakistan to “look both ways” when it comes to terrorism, which follows the Wikileaks publication of sensitive military and diplomatic information. In the publication, Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence agency was accused of aiding the Afghan insurgence.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Wajid Shamsul Hasan expected the West to ask for Pakistani support in regards to combating terror: “One would have wished that the prime minister would have considered Pakistan’s enormous role in the war on terror and the sacrifices it has rendered since 9/11. There seems to be more reliance on information based on intelligence leaks which lack credibility of proof. A bilateral visit aimed at earning business could have been done without damaging the prospects of regional peace.”
