UN, DPRK Hold Talks Over Ship Sinking

The U.N, led by the United States, had military talks with the reclusive DPRK (North Korea) on Thursday over the sinking of a South Korean naval vessel, the Cheonan, according to South Korean news agency Yonhap.
According to Yonhap, the nations held military talks for approximately 90 minutes on Thursday, but they did not provide additional information.
U.N spokesperson David Oten told CNN earlier this week that the purpose of the meeting was to “set the agenda and the protocols for general officer talks” as it pertains to the sinking of the Cheonan on March 26. Although investigations proved that the North did in fact sink their neighbors warship, the United Nations never pointed their finger directly at Pyonyang. The “Hermit State” retains their claims that they had nothing to do with the incident.
According to Oten, the talks could result in further meetings, specifically in general-level talks or even more colonel-level meetings.
This meeting came as a surprise to many in the U.N, South Korea, and the United States due to the lack of cooperation by North Korea in recent past as well as the fact that the Communist North has become increasingly hostile towards their Southern brothers.
